Worldwide, millions of people work in clothing, textile and shoe production.
The vast majority are not paid enough to meet their basic needs.
This needs to change!
That is why the Good Clothes Fair Pay campaign has been set up, a European Citizens’ Initiative for a living wage in the clothing supply chain. We want legislation that contributes to fair wages for makers in the global clothing industry.
Therefore we need 1 million signatures from EU citizens to push for legislation that makes clothing brands responsible for paying living wages throughout the supply chain.
Solidaridad asked us to create an Activation to raise awareness and to collect the so hard needed signatures. For the Netherlands the goal is set on 20.000 signatures before mid 2023.
Although there are already many ways you can contribute to a better and fair world, like buying vintage, repair your clothing or renting, signing a petition is not something that comes to mind. Too many people think that one signature makes little difference. But in fact is it the most powerful statement you can make! A signature can change the world and enough signatures can even create legislation.
In the Signastore we want to visualize the power of the signature. The impact enough signatures can make and create. We invite people to sign. Not only online, but also physically with markers and graffity spray cans on the walls, furniture, floor or the clothing.
We start the Black Friday week with a bright white room and end with a place full of color and support for the campaign.
Famous artist Janisdeman will put the first signature during the official opening. The facade is painted by him. Anyone who passes by the building will see that it is time for a colorful action!
